Beautiful living on the Costa Blanca
Alicante is located in southeastern Spain, in the south of the Valencia region. The province is known under the tourist brand name Costa Blanca. It has a typical Mediterranean landscape, where the beaches are interspersed with mountainous terrain.
In the province there are up to ten popular festivals that have been declared festivals of international tourist interest: in Alicante, the bonfires on St. John's Eve; in Torrevieja, the International Habaneras and Polyphony Contest; the Moors and Christians Festival in Villajoyosa, Alcoy and Crevillente; Holy Week in Crevillente and in Orihuela; the Fira de Tots Sants (All Saints' Day) of Cocentaina; and the "Misterio" (Mystery) of Elche and the Palm Sunday processions in the town of Elche. There is also the palm grove of Elche, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
In Alicante there are numerous archaeological sites, many of which belong to the Mediterranean Arc of the Iberian Peninsula and have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
